Today I logged 8.43 miles in memory of my nephew, US Army CPL Christopher John-Lee “C.J.” West. He was a combat medic and paratrooper killed-in-action on Feb. 4, 2008, in Iraq. Since 2008, I have logged over 890 miles to remember “C.J.” and hope to continue the tradition.

The CPL Christopher J. “C.J.” West Troop Medical Clinic, Iraq, was dedicated in 2009. When the clinic was turned over to the Iraqi people, the West family donated the clinic signs and memorabilia to the U.S. Army. They are on exhibit at the U.S. Army Medical Department (AMEDD) Museum at Fort Sam Houston, Texas. West graduated cum laude with his B.S. in Business Administration-Marketing from Texas A&M University. He is buried in Section 60 at Arlington National Cemetery.

May God bless America, our brave troops and their families!

We held our fourth annual Run for the Fallen event in Charleston, IL on Saturday (August 17). Participants ran 881 miles in memory of the fallen. It was an extraordinary day and I hope our Gold Star families walked away knowing we will not forget their fallen sons and daughters, brothers and sisters, and friends. We will never forget these extraordinary men and women or the sacrifice they have made and that their families and friend live with that sacrifice forever.

What an amazing day! I’m very proud and honored to have participated this year and will continue to. Where can we purchase t-shirts? They were sold out when we arrived.
