TO THEM THAT’S GONE “Day 50: Running for Evan Bixler” from Film for the Fallen LLC.July 4 marks the day when our Declaration of Independence was ratified and signed by our founding fathers. The first public reading of the declaration took place in Philadelphia’s Independence Square on July 8. The bell in Independence Hall, then known as the “Province Bell” would later be renamed the “Liberty Bell” after its inscription – “Proclaim Liberty Throughout All the Land Unto All the Inhabitants Thereof.”
For Run for the Fallen, the film crew has been hard at work this July 4 weekend. While we celebrate the founding of our nation, the production team has cut and uploaded a new video on their website: tothemthatsgone.com
The production crew has also teamed up with Fractured Atlas, a non-profit organization that serves a national community of artists and arts organizations. With the help of Fractured Atlas, Film for the Fallen can now accept tax-exempt donations. Any amount helps. Please donate.
This July 4, amidst the celebration of picnics, parades, and fireworks, take time to think about the Declaration, the American Revolution, and those who continue to serve our nation. It is hard to fathom that hotly contested debates surrounded such an important document in 1776, and we must not take for granted those principles instilled by the document’s authors: Thomas Jefferson and John Adams. Principles we should proudly stand by. Only nine of the thirteen colonies voted in favor of The Declaration of Independence. This majority vote stands as a testament of our Republic, our American way of life, and our freedom.
The documentary film about Run for the Fallen ‘08, now entitled “To Them That’s Gone”, is currently in post-production. The filmmakers would like to extend their best wishes and deep respect to the families of all service members — here and gone — on this Memorial Day weekend.
To Them that’s here,
To Them that’s gone,
To Them we’ll see again…

Watch CNN’s online story about Arlington National Cemetery’s Section 60 on Memorial Day, 2008.
The story
America’s most recent war dead lie in a quiet patch of ground at Arlington National Cemetery known as Section 60.
In that parcel are 485 men and women who were killed in Iraq and Afghanistan.
Most tourists keep to other paths at the cemetery, visiting the Tomb of the Unknowns or President John F. Kennedy’s gravesite. However, especially on Memorial Day weekend, relatives and friends pay their respects at the graves in Section 60.
