Captain Joseph House Foundation

August 18th, 2012 Comments off

Meeting Betsy Schultz today was wonderful. She recently started a not-for-profit, Captain Joseph House Foundation, in honor of her own son, Capt. Joseph William Schultz, who was killed in action May 29, 2011. The Foundation provides a unique service, a respite/retreat opportunity for families to heal and rebuild.

Captain Joseph House is a 1910 craftsman home maintained with the charm and comfort of an old-world English estate, yet modernized to meet the needs of three families throughout the year. With up to three families sharing the same week, the House will foster an environment where new friendships can take root and draw strength from the common experience of loss.

This transition respite/retreat will provide an opportunity for a family to begin building new memories and new traditions as they regroup and learn to live, laugh and love within this recreated family unit. The CJHF organization extends the continuum of care for military families who have lost a loved one and made the ultimate sacrifice.
